Family, Science and Theology
February 26, 2007
My grandfather has been very sick. We’re taking turns staying with him at night (my parents and I), and we’ve got an in home caregiver coming to stay with him during the day. Hopefully he’ll be able to recover soon. I’m staying with him tomorrow after I get out of lab and possibly Wednesday night. Thursday I have to study for my Calc. III midterm (be afraid). I used to be decent at math. This past year has made me out to be quite the math-tard. But all is well–I am not a math major.
Friday, I take my exam and then I’m leaving at noon to meet up with Jeremy. We’re taking a few days off to spend together down in Savannah. I am really looking forward to it. Next week is my Spring Break, so I might get some sleep in when I’m not with the grandpa.
Also…I’ve got a rough idea of my fall schedule. It’s here if you’re interested: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=ddfm9xq3_2dx68mj.
So…I think I’ll get my philosophy minor. And apply to theology school along with chemistry grad programs. Crazy, I know. But what the hey.
More later.
Ash Wednesday
February 21, 2007
I enjoyed my Ash Wednesday service tonight at the Chapel. There’s something to be said for feeling forgiven.
I feel like this whole school year has been one long existential crisis. I want to do great things. But I sometimes wonder if maybe I put too much on myself. I feel this overwhelming need to create and something is holding me back. Can’t quite put my finger on it. Maybe it’s just my self-doubt.
I have got to get out of this funk. It’s definitely not healthy.
Valentine’s Day
February 19, 2007
Firstly, I had a marvelous Valentine’s Day or Singles Awareness Day or whatever people are calling it now. It was great! I met Jeremy over at his place and we got all fancied up to go to dinner. I found a great dress on sale and it actually fit me, so that was exciting! He brought me flowers and was ever-so-awesome all evening.
We went to eat at Rudolph’s in Gainesville and, though the service and food was quite bad, the company was great. We made it home after freezing out in the brisk wind. Later that night and into the morning, I got really sick and had a bad case of food poisoning evidently.
Long story short–I am feeling much better now, but it has taken days to recover. I missed school on Thursday, but made it back in on Friday. I had a good weekend with family and Jeremy. We went to see a movie yesterday and then we went shopping for housewares.
I hope everyone is doing well! I’ll write more later–off to lab.
P.S. I’m enjoying biochem so much that I’m seriously considering rewriting my research proposal to include biochemical implications.
Busy, Busy, Busy
February 10, 2007
So, my time has been taken up lately with class, labs, and tutoring (more than seven people on the list now). I took the GRE and did fairly well on it, but I plan to retake it because my verbal was higher than my quantitative. I’d prefer to practice and score higher on my math section next time than attempt to submit my current scores to grad programs. They like high quant. scores.
I am currently relaxing on Jeremy’s couch for the evening. I spent the day shopping with Mom. We got some seriously good deals and that makes me happy. I had a good time today. I’ve got a little bit of homework to finish, but hopefully I’ll have time to visit Heather tomorrow! It’s always good to see her.
I must go for now, but I’ll try to update after Valentine’s Day. It’ll be a really busy week, but I’m sooo looking forward to Wednesday since I’ve got a few surprises for Jeremy.
Much love to those who read this!
